Sackhoff will be hitting the road again on November 2nd to raise money for PATH, an organization aiming to end homelessness in Los Angeles and Southern California by connecting people with supportive services and building affordable housing. “The PATH Mall center connects people with all the services they need to get on their feet, including doctors, therapists, employment services and classes. Everything you need is at your fingertips,” she says. Sackhoff’s enthusiasm for PATH is rather infectious. “I really love how practical and accepting they are, knowing that everyone’s circumstances are different.”
The First Annual PATH Home – Charity Motorcycle Ride kicks off near the foot of the Angeles Crest and ends at Newcomb’s Ranch with a barbeque, music and fun. Stars from your favorite shows, including Masters of Sex, Eureka, CSI Miami and Sons Of Anarchy, will be riding with them. And there’s still time to score a ticket and ride out with them – you know you’re thinking about it.
And maybe you’re thinking about moving out of your comfort zone, about doing something different, or maybe taking a chance, whether that’s taking a ride or doing something else. Well, Katee wouldn’t have it any other way, because that’s exactly how she lives her life – going full throttle whether at work or play, so much so don’t be surprised if you see her slipping into a cockpit of a race car to do some NASCAR style driving on the charity circuit. I can’t help but think that the Van Buren sisters would be inspired and riding right along with her.
KATEE SACKHOFF and TRICIA HELFER invite you to be a part of the First Annual PATH® Home – Charity Motorcycle Ride on November 2, 2014.
The ride will start near the foot of the Angeles Crest and wind its way up through the San Gabriel Mountains to an elevation of over 5,000 feet. The organized ride will end at the historic Newcomb’s Ranch. Once there, participants will enjoy a BBQ lunch (included with ticket), live music & charity raffle while getting a chance to mingle with the celebrity riders.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will support PATH in its mission to end homelessness in Southern California.
The internet has been buzzing lately about the ALS Icebucket Challenge and Katee has stepped up and taken the challenge!
Katee accepted the challenge in honor of writer, Scott Lew, who wrote last year’s Sexy Evil Genius film that Katee not only starred in but also co-produced. Scott has been living with ALS for 11 years now.
Now, Katee is challenging her Sexy Evil Genius co-stars Michelle Trachtenberg & Harold Perrineau via Twitter to take the challenge as well.
For those of you who may be wondering what the ALS Icebucket Challenge is:
The challenge requires nominated participants to have a bucket of ice water poured on their head. One common stipulation gives 24-hours to complete the mission from the time they are nominated and if they don’t complete the dare they have to donate $100 to charity (in this case, ALS).
As of Sunday, August 17, 2014, The ALS Association has received $13.3 million in donations compared to $1.7 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 17). These donations have come from existing donors and 259,505 new donors to The Association.
So what are you waiting for? Challenge your friends, family, colleagues or even celebrities to take part in the ALS Icebucket Challenge and help fight Lou Gehrig’s Disease!
